Must-See Activities Rock Richardson’s Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival RICHARDSON, TX–MAY 7, 2015 – It’s all about music, art and food at this year’s City of Richardson’s Wildflower! Arts and Music Festival, North Texas’ largest music festival. The 23rd annual event will host a variety of must-see activities to entertain and inspire all festival-goers. Held May 15-17, 2015 at Richardson’s Galatyn Park, Wildflower! will feature more than 80 musical acts on five stages including numerous award-winning musicians from a wide range of genres, a variety of art and food vendors, festival favorite competitions and more. Must-see activities include: The Johnsonville Big Taste Grill – It’s not your average backyard BBQ! Coming in at 65’ long and 20’ high, this “baby” can cook 2,500 brats an hour. It takes a hydraulic system to lift the 6,000 pound lid – giving access to 440,000 BTUs, which is needed to grill the half-ton of Johnsonville brats held in the onboard fridge. The grill is centrally located across from Performance Row. Denny Dent’s “Two-Fisted Art Attack” – In 1997, world-renowned “rock and roll painter” Denny Dent appeared at Wildflower! and created one of his legendary masterpieces, an ode to John Lennon. Denny tragically passed away in 2004, however, his “passionate dance on canvas” depicting one of rock’s most iconic musicians will be displayed during the weekend in the lobby of the Eisemann Center. Student Art Contest — The theme for this year, “Pooch Portraits,” celebrates the opening of the City of Richardson’s new dog park. Over 1,200 entries in categories kindergarten through sixth grade. Winning artwork is on display on the art walls in The Pan American Life Insurance Kidz Korner. The Battle of the Bands — The annual competition returns, presented by The Door Dallas! On Saturday, May 16 at 4:15 p.m., three North Texas high school bands will compete for a cash prize, band gear and concert tickets.
