Accesories In The Nude Recap
All the lights shown bright Saturday night at The Old Warshaw. Accessories in the Nude (AIN) creator Meko Krout-King and friends anxiously awaited the festivities of another successful integration of fashion, art, and business. This year the event was dubbed “A Celebration of a Fashionista.” This was very fitting as Krout-King’s birthday was yesterday as well. Her showcase first hit the scene in 2008, and has seen its popularity and prosperity grow ever since. It started as a space for fashion accessories designers to promote their products and crafts. The showcase has evolved into an open production highlighting the city’s community of creatives.
The bill was nothing less than power packed featuring twenty top designers and creatives. Among the accessories makers were Noella Kabongo, Terri Datcher, Emme, Jacque Martin, Megan Brigham, Ashlee Long, Thais Mills, Kanupriya Pande, and Brooke Reynolds. Along with their booths these designers added decadence to an entire floor of The Old Warsaw with the elegant decor including crystal chandelier and mirror elements. These artistically arranged pieces sat atop multiple cocktail tables with drapery fitting the mood of the room. One of the designers, Jacque Martin, became the winner of the AIN 2014 Designer Competition and was awarded the position of Spokesperson for the AIN brand. Jacque Martin also received cash prizes and mentorship fashion spreads, and then some.
After the accessories designers unveiled their goods everybody was welcomed onto the third floor to find seats for the fashion show. Charles Smith II opened the runway with his edgy looks. Photographer’s flashes popped and fashion connoisseurs gazed as Adonai Image, Elvira Diaz, Black Kaviar, Meg Morgan, Midpoint Eclectic, Tiki Glam, Phantasie, Levenity, Persona Custom Clothiers, and Melancolic became the show. Chynaman and Kiko kept the bass pumping and helped set the mood for the show from their DJ booth.
The fashion community came together for another great event. Everybody stayed after the show was over for conversation and cupcakes to celebrate Meko Krout-King’s birthday. M. Knight took over DJ responsibilities for the after party, and kept the energy flowing. The Old Warsaw, Belk, Flair Productions, Tint, Driven Magazine, and Creative Silence Studios all added sponsorship contributions in what was another fabulous edition of AIN. As its motto states, “If you aren’t wearing the right Accessories, then you might as well be Nude!”
