Dallas Cowboys: By the Numbers (Week Six)
The Dallas Cowboys (4-1) are one of just three teams to reach the four win mark through five weeks of the 2014 NFL season. They join the Philadelphia Eagles, and the San Diego Chargers, as some of the biggest surprises of the season.
In Week Six, the Cowboys will be on the road, traveling to Seattle, to face a Stingy Seahawk defense, currently ranked fifth in the league. This number could be misleading, as the Seahawks have only played four games this season. Both teams have allowed eight passing touchdowns on the season.
The Cowboys are currently ranked fifth in total offense, raking up 1,991 yards so far on the season. They also are five spots from the bottom of the league, with 10 turnovers on the season. Here’s a deeper look into the Cowboys season so far:
TEN – Kicker Dan Bailey has connected on 10 of his 11 Field Goal Attempts this season. His only miss came last week, when he missed a 53 yard attempt versus the Houston Texans.
NINE – Quarterback Tony Romo has been sacked nine times this season. In 2013, he was sacked 35 times, and was sacked 15 times through Week Five.
EIGHT – The Cowboys defense has allowed eight touchdowns through the air this season, which is tied for fifth in the league.
SEVEN – Seven Cowboys currently have 15 or more tackles on the season. Safety Barry Church leads the group with 28, followed by S J.J. Wilcox (23), LB Bruce Carter(23), LB Rolando McClain (23), LB Justin Durant (22), LB Anthony Hitchens (20), and DB Brandon Carr (19).
SIX – The Cowboys defense has forced six interceptions on the season, versus 15 on the season last year. No one on the roster has more than one, but linebacker Bruce Carter does have a touchdown off of his.
FIVE – Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams is currently third in the league, and leads all Cowboys with five receiving touchdowns on the season. Last year’s leader Dez Bryant is right behind him, with four on the season.
FOUR – Four Cowboys currently have a catch of 30 or more yards: Bryant 68 (TD), Harris 56, Williams 43 (TD), and Witten 34.
THREE – Receiver Dwayne Harris leads the team, with three fumbles on the season.
TWO – Quarterback Tony Romo has two game winning drives on the season, which is second only to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, who has three on the season.
ONE – The Dallas Cowboys have just one loss on the season. The last the team started the season 4-1, was in 2008. The team finished with a 9-7 record, and fell to third place in the NFC East.
Kickoff for the Cowboys vs. Seahawks game is at 3:25 pm CST on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at CenturyLink Field. Game will be aired on FOX.
