Dallas Cowboys DeMarcus Lawrence Has QB Tony Romo’s Back

In an exclusive interview with Dallas Entertainment Journal Sports Editor Matt Thornton; Dallas Cowboys Defensive End DeMarcus “Tank” Lawrence talks about his family, his rookie season, and DLaw says he has Tony Romo’s back regarding his quarterback’s statement a few months ago that the Cowboys are “going to win a Super Bowl next year.”
Lawrence and Thornton sat down at the beautiful Fuse Event Center in downtown Dallas where the two also discussed the upcoming season. One hot topic was that the Dallas Cowboys defensive line only had 28 sacks last season. Just four teams had fewer sacks than the Cowboys in 2014-15, and since the “sack” became an official stat in 1982, the 33 Super Bowl champions since have averaged 42.7 QB sacks per season. DeMarcus said losing free agents Bruce Carter, Henry Melton, and George Selvie, who generated nine of those 28 sacks is tough, but the second year defensive end feels confident that the 2015-16 defensive line can make up the difference and then some.
DeMarcus also gave credit to defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli in helping him improve his “get-off” on the snap of the ball, which he believes will help him significantly in the upcoming season. Finally, Lawrence praised Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant saying he’s a great teammate. Tank enjoys the playful banter between himself and Bryant during practices.
