The Lust List: Wearable Art!

This weekend we used our “Happening in Dallas” article to guide us in the right direction of some great fashion finds by local designers. At the Pancakes and booze festival aisles of the Quixotic theater were decorated with beautiful and thought provoking art wo9rk but one thing that caught our eye was the selection of wearable art showcased. If you love music and art here are some up and coming names to know and where to get my favorite Art/fashion mash up pieces.

My eyes locked on these groovy cut out earrings and it was love, Yes I said “groovy” but that’s perfectly appropriate in an article ablout someone having the creativity to recycle records and make them into chic statement earring such as Pop Tart Cherry

I had to take home these “Motown” classic styles, but it was a hard choice with all of the unique and fun shapes available Designer Karrie Carr describes herself of as a child of depression Era parents who never let her throw anything away. When she came upon a box pf records it was the  perfect medium for her “Rockin Repurposed Fashions”

And while were talking records, one both over was the very talented Nix Johnson and his line of cuffs and bracelets made from recycled vinyl. Each piece is unique in his collection   from his line House of Smash which uses various mediums in pieces that can be used as jewelry or décor  the collection he displayed at Pancakes and booze is known as “LUCY by House of Smash is a collection of contemporary and fashionable designs that are hand-painted and hand-shaped to be both whimsical and funky. Not to worry, no good music was destroyed in the process.”- in a quote from his artist profile. You can find more pieces here

My last fashion stop was “Deuces to Divas”

The funky, eclectic and rock inspired collection by Dallas Local Jenn Zalensky ” Zalesky. describes Deuces to divas accessories as  “unique, fierce, fashion-forward and handmade in the U.S.A..”  Dueces to Divas, is an interesting brand that combines art and fashion by collaborating with artist on  graphic t-shirts  for women and men.  Each design, represented on the t-shirt, features a Dallas local artist’s artwork or photograph, A percentage of these sales are given to the artist..

I found myself ogling the fun line of collars and clutch bags
