#TheLees take on Serious Pizza: The Deep Ellum, Dallas Hidden Jewel

Serious Pizza

2807 Elm St.

Deep Ellum, Dallas

Serious Pizza is located in the heart of Deep Ellum on Elm Street. Most do not have a clue that the name

Ellum comes from the way people used to pronounce the street name Elm in the early 1900s.

This place is surrounded by dozens of bars, restaurants, and tattoo parlors but it fits right in. Also, most

of the regular customers are either leaving one of those places or on the way to one so it works out.

Serious Pizza has become known as the late night pizza joint. The lines are ridiculous at 2am but the service is speedy and who’s worried about how late it is when you’re already out at that time.

Being that Serious Pizza is located in Deep Ellum there is this awesome street view of downtown. I enjoy being able to capture the lit up bar signs with the city’s skyline in the background. It’s beautiful. The restaurant itself is nestled between a bar and tattoo parlor so you could very well miss the place. There are a lot of people gathered around or in front just hanging which could make some uncomfortable; as in women. That’s just an observation. I’m sure Lyonell is okay with it. – Nette

You’re right Nette! I actually enjoy the hustle and bustle of this cozy restaurant! Besides, Deep Ellumis all about bar hopping. My suggestion for the ladies that may feel a little uncomfortable is to come in pairs or escorted. However, Deep Ellum is in no way dangerous to an un-escorted woman (in my opinion). -Lyonell

Customer Service:

Upon entering Serious Pizza the first thing you will see is a guy tossing dough around and passing it down to the saucer and so on. This place is set up like a bar. There is a nice view of the pizzas being made to order with all fresh ingredients. The customer service is not bad. We wait in a line, order at a register, and wait until the number is called. That’s about it. I’m going to just say that the place is very busy. What do you expect considering the quality of food? – Nette

I agree Nette! I the customer service is as good as the average customer service, but at 2AM, who cares about five star customer service!?!?! I’m hungry!!! -Lyonell

Serious Pizza Pie

The pizza is awesome! The crust is thin and crispy and the toppings are all on you. The ingredients are piled on so no worries in that department. The sauce is a bit thin but the extra cheese makes up for that.

Also, I don’t see the need in ordering a full pizza unless you’re feeding a football team. Most people will order a slice which is about the size of your head. Okay, I know that wasn’t a great comparison, but you get the idea. – Nette

This is by far one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot of different pizza)! I found the pie had the right amount of everything, especially the toppings. Nette is right, the whole pie is a no go unless you’re in a group and you want leftovers. -Lyonell

For me, the vibe of this place is pretty rowdy. Most of the customers are really just looking for some greasy deliciousness to satisfy a drunken craving after a long night of partying. However, do not take that comment in a bad light. You’ll actually get a good laugh or two with some of the things you are going to witness in Deep Ellum. – Nette

Rowdy is right! Hilarious is also right! Hey, you in Deep Ellum surrounded by some of Dallas oldest and successful bars and tattoo parlors, you should expect a little bustle. Besides, Serious Pizza is open during the day is you want to head in to try it out without the nightlife over your shoulder! -Lyonell

We think that Serious Pizza is definitely a must try! Since our first time going, we have gone back too many times to count! Serious Pizza has a saying,

If it’s cheap and fast, it won’t be good!

If it’s good and fast, it won’t be cheap!
